Le Jog is one of the most demanding and challenging Reliability Trial and Classic Tour events in Europe. Taking place in Britain, it starts at Land’s End in Devon and ends at John O’Groats in Scotland.
This means 2400 km of finest rallying!
It was on December 6 when we started for a 3 day adventure across Britain to join the competitors at the starting line in Devon. This is the photo-story of a 2500km journey into the fascinating world of Classic Rally.
The idea was to get a feeling for who are the participants, the cars and the organizers. Well, it was quite impressive!
It was on Friday morning when we took a sail from Calais to Dover. In the evening we wanted to join some friends at a pub at Trewellard on the West coast in Devon, making this a 650 km job because we needed first to check in at our guest house in Penzance. The evening was nice but unfortunately we had to wake at 6 am, so it was rather short…
At 7 o’clock on Saturday morning we joined the Rally at Land’s End, the new day was rising and the light was special. Even with all that cars coming and going it was astonishingly silent. This made it a special moment while looking at the competitors caring about their cars, checking the oil, making last adjustments.
After the first cars started for the Rally, we took the road to meet them at different places. We did so at the Camborne Cornwall College, then at the Davidstow Airfield and finally at Porlock in Somerset. These are the places where the pictures are from. It wasn’t always easy to find the spots, so we made a lot of miles that day…
At 6 pm on Saturday we took the road for the south of London. For Wrotham exactly, which is near to Brands Hatch for the connoisseurs… After a nice stay at the Bull’s Inn (which we can only recommend) we started our journey back to Luxembourg on Sunday morning.
So, this was it! Enjoy the pictures.
